The Panasonic Lumix GX9 features more features in a smaller and less expensive package than its predecessor the GX8. The GX9 features a 20MP Live MOS Four Thirds Sensor but with this latest iteration the Optical Low Pass Filter (OLPF) has been removed. The removal of the OLPF improves image sharpness. greater sensor stabilization is achieved by upgrading to a 5-axis system as opposed to the 4-axis of the GX8.
The GX9 also features a built-in flash which the GX8 lacked. The addition of the pop-up flash is of particular benefit tot he underwater shooter by allowing for TTL flash control over fiber optic with supported external strobes.
The GX9 also features the ability to shoot stabilized UHD 4K at 30p H.264 MOV with a 100Mbps bit rate. Stabilization will cause some crop.
Key Camera Specifications
Nauticam has long supported the Panasonic MFT lineup and the NA-GX9 takes all that experience to produce the finest underwater housing for this latest upgrade to the GX lineup.
With the addition of a built-in or pop-up flash, the GX9 will allow for TTL control of supported external strobes via fiber optic cables. The housing features built-in Sea & Sea style plugs that can be used with our Universal Fiber Optic Cables. These wet connections mean no possibility of flooded strobe connections and less setup/breakdown time.
To take full advantage of the GX9's updated 2.76 M-dot LCoS electronic viewfinder the NA-GX9 housing supports the mirrorless versions of the Nauticam Magnifying 45º and 180º viewfinders which are designed to be installed in less than a minute without tools.
There GX9 is securely attached to a camera tray via a knurbled thumb screw allowing for an easy tool-free installation. The tray slides into the housing and is locked in place to ensure proper control alignment. No controls on the housing need to be preset either making installation and removal a quick and easy process. The pop-up flash can be opened/closed from outside the housing.
A specially angled M16 bulkhead at the front of the housing is designed with the video shooter in mind. This angled bulkhead can be fitted with a standard HDMI bulkhead without an extension to allow for the use of external monitors such as the SmallHD.
The NA-GX9 can take full advantage of the Nauticam WWL-1 and CMC/SMC wet-mate optics when used with supported lenses and ports. The WWL-1 delivers zoom-through 130º wide angle and the ability to focus on the lens' front element. The CMC/SMC lineup delivers a variety of mid-range to super macro.
A variety of mounting options for wet-mate lenses are available. For the macro enthusiast single or double lens flip adapters are available allowing for fast switching between optics while underwater without the risk of misalignment or losing a lens out your BCD pocket when it's not in use.
The NA-GX9 comes equipped with Nauticam's signature Vacuum and Leak Detection system electronics pre-installed. With the addition of a Vacuum valve the system is ready to provide constant feedback on the watertightness of the system via a large multi-color LED on the rear of the housing.
The NA-GX9 is designed to be used without any additional handles or tray but is fully compatible with the Easitray and Flexitray systems. The housing ships with the necessary stainless steel stiffening brackets and trigger extension for use with the optional tray systems.

What's in the Box
Unveiled on the very first Nauticam DSLR housing in 2009, this locking lever has become a signature of the Nauticam brand. No twisting or threading action is required to mount a port, and it locks securely in place with this lever. Nauticam also offers locking port extensions, meaning a dome will never twist, even when used with a long extension ring.
The secure single rotating housing latch opens the housing back allowing for quick and easy battery or media changes.
The pop-up flash in the GX9 will allow for TTL triggering of supported flashes via the integrated fiber-optic bulkheads. The flash can also be lowered and raised inside the housing via an external lever.
The NA-GX9 features an angled forward M16 bulkhead that can be used with a standard HDMI bulkhead to support an external monitor or recorder.
The GX9 is installed onto a tray with a knurled thumbscrew. This tray then slides easily into the housing and is securely locked in place. No controls need to be preset before camera insertion.
